It amazes me how big the ripple from from one action can get. I have always heard your actions effect more then you, but never saw how much until recently. Some things we do seem so small and trivial but when you step back and look at the "bigger picture" you can see that it has a much bigger effect on the world around you. It makes me now wonder how many things in my life I have effected for the good or bad? At church I keep hearing how much we can make or break some one's day with a simple comment. It seems like just telling someone they look nice today is like big deal. I recently was told by a neighbor how much they enjoy my comments in class. I though wow that really made my day i have helped one person. A few days later I was told by another neighbor how much they enjoy my comments in class. That is 2 people now that enjoy my comments. :) These are comments I make that I worry I talk to much or I feel embarrassed like who am I to share comments, I don't know half as much as everyone else.
I have never felt I am stupid but I have also never felt like I am smart. I have felt like I am just a floater in life that if I was never here would anything be different? No I am not talking about me being depressed, and I don't have thoughts about this . I am talking about when you look at your life and think what have I accomplished, who have I helped, have I made a difference? I feel I blended in at school not being "the nerd" but not being popular. I have had a few different jobs but nothing big and important. I am a stay at home mom with 3 kids and a great husband. Other then my small group of family and friends if I wasn't here the world would be no different right?
One of my good friends convinced me to go with her to a Relief Society program, where we were able to see the Women of Deity perform. This is an amazing group of women who share the importance of womanhood. They are a musical group so it helped me even more, to be touched by their message(I seem to hear better through music). It doesn't matter how small you think your impact on life is, it is far greater then you will ever know. Too many times we feel like all I do is cook, clean, and take care of kids. We need to remember that we are daughters of our Father in Heaven and just from that we are very important. Add in there that we are raising these children to grow up and be successful adults in society. We are teaching these children values and morals that make a huge impact on lives to come. How many lives change from 1 missionary? Even if that missionary never performs one baptism, they have touched lives for years to come.
I am just a mom who stays home with my kids and makes sure they learn a few things as they grow up. I am just a babysitter who watches a few kids everyday to make a little extra money to pay off bills. Sound familiar? Here is a new way of looking at it.
I am a specialist in facilitating early brain development. I am a key player in ensuring a viable future for communities, nations and the world. I wield a powerful influence with some of the world’s most important citizens. I am called upon daily to resolve quandaries, prevent domestic upheaval, provide counseling, and impart wisdom. My responsibilities require me to make critical, split second decisions, some of which have far reaching consequence. I am an expert at human relations, conflict resolution and diverse group management.(author unknown)
Adding to that
I am a sister, a friend, a mother, a daughter. I am an important piece in my family puzzle. I am a student and a teacher, a follower and a leader. I fear, worry, cry laugh, smile, and scream. I cheer, support, lift up, lend a hand or shoulder. I need and am needed I am somebody.
Whenever we feel like our lives are insignificant we need to remember that if one little compliment can make a persons whole day seem so much better just think how much one "little me" can change the world around us.
